Don't do it Dan! Without the 3D/IMAX experience to prop it up there's nothing there worth commenting on.
I watched it again yesterday on the computer. I had to find out if i was missing something after being less than impressed when i saw it at the cinema, and had to turn it off after an hour. As i suspected earlier in this thread, without the cinema experience Avatar is lightweight, cliched and only fit for 8-16 year olds. How it's become the biggest grossing film ever is completely beyond me. (Then again i said exactly the same about the dreadful Titanic)
Even the effects don't really hold up that well on a small screen. The creatures tend to look like nothing more than you've seen a thousand times before in you favorite games cut scenes. And the environment looks like Far Cry's wooded/jungle environments liberally showered with whatever substances glow under UV lights.
I can't believe this is by the same guy that brought us Aliens + T1/T2. With the obscene budget involved with Avatar you would have thought Cameron could have paid someone to write a decent story and dialogue.
I'm not a huge fan of French films (I can count the good French films I've seen in my life on one hand... well, three fingers tbh ) and had never heard of Jacques Mesrine before, so i had no idea what to expect, but i found it pretty engrossing and watched the second part straight after part one.
Not knowing anything about the subject probably took something away from the film(s) for me, but as a lover of the gangster genre i found it to be a pretty entertaining 4 hours. Definitely worth checking out if your into gangster movies.
Probably give it an 8/10 for the first film and a 6.5/10 for the second (it looses half a point for the incredibly strung out finale)
If you like 'low and slow' flying in the best payware scenery available to man be sure to check out ORBX' FTX range http://fullterrain.com/index.html
It's in a completely different class to anything else available. I've stopped buying anything that isn't ORBX.
Currently limited to Australia, but the Pacific Northwest (US/CAN) should be released soon.
Their scenery is the best looking and the best performing stuff on the market, and the company are superb...top quality support if needed, and they are always updating their old scenery's as they discover new techniques.
I have to admit, after the last two games I'm a lot more positive about things at Liverpool. I'm not about to to a complete u turn yet, but things are looking up a bit, for one reason... we are showing some balls and desire at last. The football may be highly unattractive, but at least theres some passion being shown. I'll take points through passion over limp surrenders anytime
Who's the biggest surprise of them all? Step forward our £1.5 million backup, the jolly Greek giant Kyrgiakos. We look so much better in defense with him in the side. The guys immense, a beast. Commanding performances and showing some leadership in the center of defense. From what i heard he was a bit pants when he was at Rangers. Well he's certainly added some much needed steel in the last two games. If he continues playing like that he'll be undroppable, surely?
Aquilani looks better each game, he's got a lovely first touch and vision. It doesn't always come off, but it's getting better by the game. Pleased to see him playing off the striker tonight. When Gerrards back he should play in the middle with Masch and leave Aquilani in the hole. (They could keep swapping during the game anyway, making it harder for anyone to pick them up)
Finally...cometh the hour, cometh the man. He first touch is cack, he gives the ball away far to easily and does a fine impression of a headless chicken 80% of the time, but by god he does have a tendency to pop up and bag a crucial goal when we need them. Well done Dirk! As a footballer your as poor as it gets at times, but man..he's got a heart. (and nerves of steel when it comes to penalties ) I'll forgive the two sitters my grandma could have scored, you did the job when it mattered.
Hopefully this isn't a false dawn and we can push on and grab that 4th place, which would seem like a successful season the way things have gone.
I hope to be eating my words from previous posts at the end of the season. I'm not entirely convinced, but as long as we keep showing some fight and pride in the shirt we might just get out of this mess after all. I will offer full apologies for the "sunshiner" comments if we do
YNWA
Ohh, and just to add... I missed the game live tonight, and had to download it. i managed to get a copy that didn't have any commentary, only the sounds from the stadium. What a great way to watch the game! None of the crappy waffle, just 90 mins of the atmosphere. Superb. I hate 99% of commentators. This was more like being at the match. That's it from now on..i want commentary free matches as standard pls!
Haven't listened to this for a good 15 years... forgot how good it is, and the production is amazing. Sounded absolutely fantastic on the old headphones.
As someone who isn't a hung up on the tradition of Sherlock Holmes and could watch it for what it was..a re-imagining of the character, i thought it was a thoroughly entertaining 2 hours.
Good pacing, looked great, funny, great chemistry between Robert Downey Jr (who was fantastic in the role) and Jude Law. The 2 hours flew by and i was never bored for a second.
It was a perfect Sunday afternoon movie. Gets a very solid 8/10 for me and i'm looking forward to the sequel.
On a pure entertainment level i haven't seen anything that was quite as much fun for a long time. (Inglorious bastards was great, but was probably 20 mins to long)
It sure beat the crap out of Avatar (5/10..and only because of the visuals)
If i wanted glory I'd have stopped supporting Liverpool 20 years ago. I'll still be supporting our team if it were in League 2. Where did i ever say i want glory? Your inability to read or comprehend never fails to amaze me.
What have Arsenal got to do with anything? What glory have they had in the last few years?
Stop talking complete nonsense.
I'd like to watch a team that plays with pride in the shirt, not a bunch of uninterested overpaid players who's idea of football is to hoof the ball aimlessly over and over.
The only people i see with no pride at the moment is the majority of guys in red shirts.
This is the first time I've ever said enough is enough and spoken out against one of our managers in over 30 years of supporting this club, and you roll out the "superfan" speech.
I'll support the guy whilst he's here, I'll support the club until i die, whatever circumstances it finds itself in. I'll continue to get unreasonably upset for an adult when we loose, and ridiculously happy when we win. My love for Liverpool FC will never change.
None of that makes any difference to the fact that i think Rafa is taking us backwards. I'm no less of a fan for having that opinion.
For now all negativity is forgotten. We've got a game to win. Let's hope this will be the start of turning this mess around. YNWA.
As soon as you start slipping backward the previous progress becomes irrelevant. We are going backwards, fast.
I've been very patient for a good 20 years.
I like Rafa, and i agree with everything you've said. Sadly being a nice bloke, understanding the fans and our history and being passionate doesn't mean sweet fa if your incapable of taking the club forward.
If those were the criteria for being our manager then you or i could do the job
We will not make the top 4 this season with him in charge, we will have sod all money to spend at the end of the season if thats the case, which in turn will leave us struggling to make the top 4 for a long time to come.
I'll take absolutely no pleasure at the end of the season in saying "I told you so"
If you're right then I'll be the happiest man alive. Unfortunately i think your living in la la land.
I've not felt this bad about our club since the Souness era. Lets hope i'm very wrong.
If managers should resign because of unprofessional rants Fergie would have had to go years ago.
That wasn't Rafa's greatest moment, but hardly a reason for him to resign. The team had a little wobble after that (which was pure coincidence imo) but went on to play some fantastic stuff after that and were virtually unbeatable, putting in some of the best performances I've seen from a Liverpool team for many years.
> It is now possible to complete the lap after a qualify end
> Improved server communication for non updated versions
> Added automatic check and warning for insufficient fuel to complete a race
> Overlay names are now on by default
> Added an high ping warning
> Added audio levels control
> Added "auto refuel" behaviour when "change tyres at sim start" is enabled
> Driver's stats moved to the Driver's panel
> Chat is now operative
> Collisions are now off during the race for "cube" cars
> Collisions are now off before green lights
> New formula for differentials
> Updated coast torque for all the engines
> Improved cameras management (F1-F2-F3 key commands )
What has that got to do with anything? I've been supporting Liverpool for 32 years. I probably know more about the club than a lot of scousers.(and i know several scousers that agree with every word i said, so what's your point?) Yet again instead of debating any of the points i make you come out with one line of irrelevance.
You're absolutely correct. He's no world beater, never will be and i never said he was. I just get a bit fed up with people who blame everything on Lucas when he's actually been one of our better players this season. He's always improving and obviously giving his all.
I'd much rather it were Mash and Gerrard in the middle ,with Aqualani playing behind Torres. But on current form i cant see Gerrard making much more of an impact than Lucas. Sad days indeed.
Glen is a good player going forward, but a pretty poor defender. Riera is completely inconsistent and injured more than he's fit. Lucas has been one of our best players this season. (the blindness of you Lucas haters is beyond comprehension. do you actually watch the games?) Gerrard has been absolutely shite all season. He simply doesn't look interested. Dirk ,for all his effort, is terrible on the wing. Torres is the best player we've had for years, but having a player that spends half the season injured with no top quality backup isn't going to win us anything.
You really need to take off the rose tinted glasses.
Thanks for your splendid contribution. I feel firmly put in my place.
Please stay for another 10 years of mediocrity Rafa. The sunshiners still love you.
Look, blame the Yanks or blame the players as much as you like, to some extent i would agree, but i have absolutely no doubt another manager would get a hell of a lot more out of this squad than Rafa ever will.
Rafa has absolutely no man management skills. All that's in his head is tactics.
I've stuck by him and stuck up for him for years, but can't any longer. Enough is enough.
I'm not going to bother clicking the link...firstly as you've said it the Daily Mail. Secondly, anyone who has actually looked at the FACTS knows his net spend per season has been tiny compared to any of the other top clubs. Yes, he's bought a lot of players (and quite a few of them have been utter shite) but he's sold most of them on for a profit.
The players we have are the same as the team that nearly won the title last season, bar Alonso and Arbeloa. One of those has been replaced with a better player, and Aquilani still hasn't played enough to really pass a fair judgment. That group of players were fine when the confidence was flowing last season...we looked unbeatable. ( Gerrard and Torres were both missing for large parts of the season, so i don't accept it's just down to not having them in the team, though they are obviously the best players in the team..when on form)
Whatever has gone on behind the scenes during the summer and the start of this season nobody knows, but it's obvious there is no confidence and half the team look completely uninterested. The body language of the players says it all. Rafa just hasn't the skill to re-motivate the team. I'd put money on it being Gerrard and Carra that did most of the motivating in the past. I think they've given up on Benitez and that's rubbed off on the whole team.
A boss with good man management skills would be getting a lot more out of this squad. It's time to try and find someone who fits that description. If Rafa doesn't go by the end of the season I'll be gutted. He claims to love Liverpool. He should do whats best for the club and take a hike.
And to answer the OP. No. Hopefully the devs are taking this much time to get it up to the standard set by iRacing and netKar pro. I'll happily wait for as long as it takes for them to get it right. No one wants a half arsed incomplete physics update. I'm happily racing other sims until they are ready.
